Dick Michelson—Third generation owner of Michelson Shoes
Dick Michelson is Lexington. A Lexington merchant for many years, he opened the current Michelson’s Shoes in 1965, which he now manages with his sons Eric and Jerry. President of the Lexington Retailers Association, which produces Discovery Day and the popular Trick or Treat with Lexington Business, Dick is also past president of the Lions Club, the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, and the Lexington Jaycees. He was the recipient of the prestigious White Tricon Hat in 1975. In addition, Dick was instrumental, along with the Lexington Bicentennial Committee, in obtaining permission to fly the flag over the Battle Green 24 hours a day, and in purchasing the current Battle Green flag pole. Dick is a lifelong resident of Lexington who still comes to work at his store every morning at 5:30 a.m.
